Frozen Mother Logistics Center

Through our mother center, goods can be distributed from factories to our logistics centers without the need for transshipment.
It takes an average of about 30 minutes to unload pallet deliveries, and work productivity has improved more than threefold (results of Kanto Frozen Mother Logistics Center).
Tackling challenges in the frozen food industry
To tackle challenges in the frozen food industry like driver shortages, an aging workforce, and lengthy waiting times, we have launched the “Frozen Mother Logistics Center” initiative, which is expected to significantly enhance efficiency.
The key lies in palletization, the process of loading goods onto pallets for transportation, handling, and storage. Though palletization has long been a standard practice streamlining and enhancing efficiency in logistics, the frozen industry has lagged behind other temperature zones. On the manufacturer’s side, the adoption of pallets was slow due to a focus on loading efficiency over operational efficiency and the use of pallets of different sizes, leading to manual loading and unloading for each shipment. In addition, some older wholesale centers had narrow dock doors that made it impossible to handle pallets with forklifts.
From Kanto to Kinki, and Then Nationwide
Based on these considerations, we established the Kanto Frozen Mother Logistics Center, which began preliminary operations in November 2020 and full-scale operations in January 2022, as a hub to promote palletization. In June 2021, we started operations at the Chushikoku Frozen Mother Logistics Center within our Hiroshima Low Temperature Logistics Center, and in March 2023, the Kinki Frozen Mother Logistics Center in Konohana Ward, Osaka City. We are promoting industry-wide improvements by introducing systems such as SCM labels, which link the products on each pallet with data and enable batch inspection and accounting via barcode. We are currently planning to expand into six regions nationwide, including the remaining Tohoku, Chubu, and Kyushu areas. We plan to use these facilities as a platform to achieve consistent palletization throughout the frozen industry.
